Irrefutably, all songs in the movie are beautiful when produced in its raw form. However trying to compose the song in a different way might produce a beautiful and unique track. “Bulleya” is a Sufi song with profound meaning from the movie ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ which was released in 2016.

Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, are seen in the video of the song. The title “Bulleya” refers to the renowned Sufi poet Bulleh Shah who is popular for his poetry. Most of us have lost touch with deep and meaningful lyrics as we are accustomed listening to superficial and shallow lyrics.

The lyrics has a combi of Hindi /Urdu/ Persian ( Sufi) and also Punjabi for eg : Ve ki karan…Brilliant lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya.

With reference to the Heer-Raanjha tale, Raanjha is a person who doesn’t dwell at a particular place yet he was willing to change his drawbacks and desired to be a part of his lover’s expedition. Well, this explains the depth of romantic emotions or the intensity of love.

Best lines:

Meri rooh ka parinda phadphadaye

Lekin sukoon ka jazeera mil na paaye

Main ki karaan?

Main ki karaan?

The bird of my soul writhes

But it is unable to find the island of peace

What should I do?

Ik baar ko tajalli ( revelation) toh dikha de

Jhoothi sahi magar tasalli ( Hope) to dila de

Ve ki karaan?

Ve ki karaan?

Just once show yourself

Give me some hope even if it is false

What should I do?

Tere kaarvan mein shaamil hona chaahun

Kamiyaan taraash ke main qaabil hona chahun

Ve ki karaan? Ve ki karaan?

I want to be a part of your convoy

I want to chisel away my shortcomings and become worthy

What should I do?

The whole song has meaningful lines. Genius lyrics indeed. And so well sung by Amit Mishra

Jis din se aashna se

Do ajnabi huye hain

Tanhaiyon ke lamhe

Sab multavi huye hain

Since two strangers have become lovers ,(Aashna literally means ‘friends’)

The moments of loneliness have ended (Multavi literally means ‘postpone’)

Kyun aaj main mohabbat

Phir ek baar karna chaahun

Why do I wish to fall in love once again?

Yeh dil toh dhoondhta hai

Inkaar ke bahaane

Lekin ye jism koi paabandiyan na maane

Mil ke tujhe bagaawat

Khud se hi yaar karna chaahun

My heart is looking for excuses to decline love

But my body does not adhere to any binds

Since I have met you I want to rebel against my own self

The last part of the song has a deep meaning. This is whats happening in todays generation. Ranbir pretends to be in love with Ash for whatever benefits. But at the same time never moved on from the past ( Anushka). The fact that Ash turned back to check on him twice  ( in the video) shows her love towards him, but Ranbir is in tears thinking of Anushka and not turning back shows his love for his past. Uff yeh khambakt mohabatt!

Enjoy this beauty. Pritam is the real rockstar music director – Brilliant composition.  The usage of guitar in the song stands out. Its almost like a western composition.

Ranbir was 34 years old while the movie was shot ( he is 40 now). Aishwaria was 42 ( she is 48 now) – Difference in age of 8 years between them .

Apparently the saas Jaya Bachchan was majorly upset over the intimate scenes between Ranbir and Ash. At the end of the day they are actors and if Jaya can not understand this God bless her.

Moral of the movie : if you want to love- Love hard- Love deep – Love passionately Love all the way!

We all enjoyed the movie . If you have missed the movie please go watch it.

Have a lovely day
