The Final Countdown" is a song by Swedish rock band Europe, released in 1986. Written by lead singer Joey Tempest, it was based on a keyboard riff he made in the early 1980s, with lyrics inspired by David Bowie's "Space Oddity". Originally made to just be a concert opener, it is the first single and title track from the band's third studio album. The music video by Nick Morris, made to promote the single, has become iconic with 1 billion views on YouTube. The video features footage from the band's two concerts at Sweden, as well as extra footage of the sound checks and footage from Stockholm.

Basically it’s the song “of the space team by the space team, for the space team’ while they are getting ready to take off to space after all the hard work they put in for years.

The final count down tune has been copied by the music directors Raam Laxman in the song “mere rang me”- in Salman Khan debut  movie “ Maine pyaar kiya.

Raamlaxman's soundtrack for Maine Pyar Kiya is filled with surprising musical delights, with couple of songs inspired by Western hits: "Aate Jaate Hanste Gaate" is reminiscent of Stevie Wonder's "I Just Called to Say I Love You", while "Mere Rang Mein Rangne Wali" as stated earlier above, takes cues from Europe's "The Final Countdown". In addition to these familiar tracks, others are classically Indian—including the flute and tabla rhythms in both versions of "Dil Deewana", and the quasi-traditional ragas featured in "Kahe Toh Se Sajna".

It’s not from any movie, it is the title track of the band Europe’s third album The Final Countdown (1986).

The song has later appeared in several movies, including Shiner (2000) The Kid & I (2005) and Pitch Perfect (2012), but those came many years after the song.

One can interpret or take motivation from the song in many other ways :

a)    Suppose our Indian cricket team after all the hard work has managed to reach the finals of the world cup. They can listen to this song ) FINAL COUNTDOWN) just before the FINALS to take motivation. Just imagine the feeling if the team  wins ….

b)    Now assume you have slogged your butt out for preparing for IAS/CA/MBBS or any other major FINAL exams or any other significant event in your life ….Try and listen to this song “FINAL COUNTDOWN ” before the final exams to get inspired to do your best. You will love it !! .. Just imagine the feeling after you pass out and then listen to the song again.

c)    You are in your fifties or the sixties ( FINAL stage of your functional life) and you have not done anything significant or big in life and time is now running out…You are in a Play this song and keep listening till you get motivated to do your best.
